Taking Care of Business

Posted by Dan , Thursday, August 16, 2012 12:18 PM

It has been a while since I have updated my blog, but today felt like the day that I should. Let me give a little history since I graduated in May of 2011. I started out by moving in with my sister Shannon and her husband Kevin. I did the usual job hunt, but was having a hard time finding something worth my while. Then literally by about a minute I got the right job. I was driving to sign the contract for a job that I really didn't want, and got a call from Priority Dispatch. They provide 911 protocol and software to dispatch agencies. The next week I was working at a new job, being productive and happy. My title was Technical Support Representative, and included customer support and internal IT. I started on August 1st 2011. I loved the job, and feel like I performed well at it, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted long term. Management was creating a new position in the company and wanted me to have it. I was offered the job a while ago, but today I officially have the title of Network Administrator.

HR needed a photo for the announcement. The suit must be lucky. Thanks Dave.
I never thought that I would have the job position that I wanted this early in my career. A lot of you have helped me along the way, and I am grateful to have you in my life. I plan on staying here for a while, and see where life takes me. Professionally I am in a great place. Now I just need to find someone that can help me start a family.

A Better Me...

I am graduating in a couple of weeks. Things are looking good, I have lots of prospective job opportunities. I figured that since there was so many things changing in my life that I have to change and keep up with them. Since the start of the year, I have been working out and lost 20+ lbs. I also decided that it was time for a haircut. I like seeing my neck and face again. I am feeling really good, and looking forward to no more tests and boring lectures. Everyone has been a big help in getting me this far and I'm lucky to have to family that I do. I'll update with graduation stuff after it happens. May 6th! Later.

Spring Break!

Posted by Dan , Tuesday, March 15, 2011 7:31 PM

So, this is my last spring break here in Cedar City, so I thought that I should see some of the scenery that I'm sure is taken for granted too often. Trevor, Trent, and I headed down to Zions National Park to go for a quick hike up to Emerald Pools and see the sweet waterfalls. I really should use my camera more often, and this was one time that a picture doesn't show how amazing it was. Hopefully I will get to use the camera more soon.

A Feast with Friends

I was talking with Savannah last week, and decided that we should all get together for a Thanksgiving Dinner since we would all be leaving for the break. We gathered all the roommates and put together an actual Pre-Thanksgiving Feast. We prepared a bacon roasted turkey breast, mashed some potatoes, tossed some salad, creamed some gravy, and opened some corn. It was an amazing meal, and was great to have a wonderful meal with my friends here in Cedar.

The end of the year is my most favorite time of year. Being kind, having fun, and no school make everyone great to be with. Looking forward to making great memories this year.

New House

New Computer

So recently my roommate Steve purchased a new town house. I went with him and now we are loving the central air and new house smell. I was so happy in fact that I got around to building my new computer. For all the geeks out there, it has a Nvidia GTX 470 and is awesome for gaming.

New Adventures

Las Vegas.
Family Vacation this year. For about a week we were in the happiest place on earth. Not Sin City, that was just a stop so the drive was bearable, I mean Disneyland!

I saw Mickey talking to some kids, so I walked over and said "Hey Mickey!" He waved and gave me a perfect photo op. What a nice mouse.

Disneyland is really most fun when you can enjoy the magic with kids. My two favorite nieces were there to keep me entertained and show me the whimsy of childhood. A long day of standing and walking in the sun can get to anyone so me and Jade had to take a break and make some calls.

So, we had one "beach day" and I can say it was one of the most fun. My dad sat on the sand and I made sure that he knew he was getting in to fight the waves with me. It didn't take long for Jason, my dad, and I to look fear in the face.

We each found our own way of fighting the waves, some would leave you dazed with a rancid salt taste in your mouth.

In the end we all knew it was better to just enjoy the power of the Pacific. And that we did, until we all were victim to a sunburn that we could never forget.

My father is quite agile in the water.

Laguna Beach.

You can tell we are at the happiest place on earth!

The last time that I was in Disneyland was more than 10 years ago. I forgot what I was missing! California Adventure was a nice addition to the magic that I remember. Thanks for taking me. It was so much fun to spend time with everyone.

Summer Breeze

This weekend I visited my family in Richfield. Wii sword slicing with Jason, visiting Grandma, and eating real food were a few highlights. The fish might have been biting, but the wind made it so we will never know. I decided that instead of fighting the wind, I would play in it. My dragon kite enjoyed its first flight.
I have started to upload all my pictures to:

This will help me to keep track of them.

Also, one week left.
